East Asian Snacks You’ll Love From Chinatown

Colourful packaging, quirky flavours and fun collectable logos; there’s a reason East Asian snacks are a worldwide hit. 

You can find many firm favourites across Chinatown London, with their distinctive, bold, and bright labels. But if you’re unfamiliar to the East Asian snacking scene it can be quite overwhelming, so we’ve put together a bite-sized list of 5 must-try snacks we think you’ll love.

Japanese Pocky

If you’ve never tried Pocky… you haven’t lived! These popular crispy Japanese biscuit sticks are coated in a rich tasty sweet cream, with flavours ranging from strawberry, matcha and chocolate to blueberry, cookies & cream and almond crush. These treats are great for a light sugar fix… but be careful, they are insanely moreish and once you start the packet, you might not be able to stop!

Korean Choco Pie

You’ve heard of K-Pop, but what about K-Choc? Lotte Choco Pies are all the rage in Korea. Tuck into two layers of fluffy cake sandwiched together, filled with a creamy marshmallow centre and coated in a thin layer of chocolate. If you have a sweet tooth you’ll go cuckoo over the gooey centre and biscuit crunch.

Korean Nongshim Noodles

Nongshim noodles are a strong favourite for ramen fanatics on the go. These instant noodles are reasonably thick, holding a whole depth of craveable flavour. They make a delicious snack as they come, but if you’re feeling fancy and need filling up – pimp up your ramen with toppings such as prawns, chicken, poached egg and bok choy.

Korean Turtle Chips

Turtle Chips are the hottest snack in Korea right now. The turtle shell shaped bites are layered not once or twice, but four times to pack that extra crunch! The original “Sweet Corn Soup” flavour is the most popular, or try the new buzzworthy Injeolmi (sweet bean flour) flavour.
