Masters of the lunar verse – Chinese moon poetry reading

An afternoon dedicated to poetry as part of our celebration of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.

Poetry has long been a significant part of Chinese culture. In this session with poet, Jennifer Wong, the audience will get to know their Li Bai from their Du Fu.

Jennifer will share the rich, multiple meanings and legends of the moon from well-known Tang poems to contemporary verse – including her own work. Learning poems by heart and reciting them aloud is common in China. To reflect this, Jennifer will also give bilingual readings during the session to give attendees the opportunity to appreciate both the musicality and the delicate imagery of Chinese poetry. We will also have Mary Jean Chan – the former TEDx speaker as the guest poet of this event.

This event is open to all – poetry beginners most welcome – and there’s no expectation of strong poetry appreciation skills.

Tickets include beautiful blooming flower tea and moon gazing!
