Think of dim sum and what comes to mind: bamboo steamers of yummy dumplings? At Secrets of the Bamboo Basket you’ll discover there’s so much more to this Chinese food. Did you know, for instance, in Cantonese dim sum is ‘yum cha’ meaning ‘drink tea’? And that a perfectly-prepared brew is as important as the food?

For the first ever National Dim Sum Week, it’s not just restaurants in Chinatown London that are getting in on the action. China Exchange, the epicenter of arts and culture, is hosting a lip-licking evening on 5 July 2018 that will pull back the veil on this Chinese brunch staple. Expect superstar chef demos, guided tastings galore and the chance to learn about the much-respected history behind these mighty morsels.

Over the course of the night, you’ll be wowed by the expertise of TV chef and School of Wok founder Jeremy Pang, who’ll be talking about dim sum’s evolution as he creates his own take on dim sum before your very eyes. Amy Poon, of legendary Chinese restaurant Poon’s, and master chef extraordinaire Ken Wang will also be sharing their wisdom, while founder of Canton Tea Jennifer Wood will teach you how to flavour-match your tea to your dim sum. Tasty!
