Guanghwa Bookshop is the UK’s only brick-and-mortar Chinese bookshop, established in 1971. For over 50 years, we have been dedicated to sharing Chinese literature, language, art and culture with readers in London and beyond. Our collection includes Chinese-language books across literature, history, philosophy, politics, society, economics, science and more, alongside English-language books about China and Chinese culture. We also stock Chinese language learning materials, children’s books, traditional Chinese art supplies, cultural gifts and crafts.

Beyond being a bookshop, Guanghwa is a cultural space that connects communities. We regularly host book launches, author talks, workshops, mini book fairs, and courses in Chinese calligraphy and painting. We are proud to support artists, writers, learners and anyone curious about Chinese culture.

Our brand is rooted in knowledge, heritage and cultural exchange. Whether customers are looking for a new novel, a meaningful gift, materials for calligraphy, or a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, Guanghwa offers a welcoming place to discover, learn and connect.

We run on-site Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy and seal carving courses and workshops, suitable for different levels of experience. These sessions give customers the opportunity to learn traditional Chinese art forms in an accessible and welcoming environment.

We also offer mounting services for Chinese paintings and calligraphy works, helping customers present and preserve their artworks professionally. In addition, customers can order customised seal carving, which makes a meaningful personal item or gift.

Alongside these services, Guanghwa regularly hosts cultural events such as author talks, book launches, workshops and other community activities. Details of upcoming courses, workshops and events are updated on our website.
