ABOUT
Leong's Legend serves the Taiwanese street food you'd find in Taipei: soup dumplings, oyster omelette, beef noodle soup, chilli crab and Taiwanese pork buns. The pork bun, also known as gua bao, was first introduced to the UK here. A soft, pillowy bun is filled with melt-in-your-mouth slow-cooked pork belly, then topped with crunchy peanut and coriander. It's a legendary snack in Taiwan, and now in Chinatown too.
The dining room is styled after a Taipei night market, and the name nods to Mount Liang from the "Water Margin", one of Chinese literature's most celebrated tales. Spoiler: it involves a group of rebels taking on a corrupt government. The building has a story of its own. Its basement was the original home of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, which opened there in 1959.
