Taiyakiya is a Japanese dessert shop in Chinatown, specialising in traditional Taiyak, a fish-shaped waffle that is a popular street snack in Japan. Each taiyaki is made fresh, with a golden, lightly crisp shell and a soft, warm centre. The traditional version is filled with sweet red bean paste and is best served warm. Other fillings available include peanut and sesame, nutella and banana as well as savoury options including kimchi cheese.

The open-mouthed taiyaki waffles are a more playful variation.
